On October 8, 2026, a mob attacked and set fire to the home and an adjoining clinic of a Christian man in Gharial Kalan village, Narang Mandi, Sheikhupura district, Punjab Province. Police said the attack followed accusations that the man had shared a blasphemous post on social media.
The Sheikhupura District Police spokesperson said the accused, identified as Kamran Masih, son of Muneer Masih, was arrested at about 9:30 pm and shifted to a safe house. Authorities registered a case against him under Section 295‑C of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Police said the mob ransacked the house and set the dispensary/alleged clinic on fire. More than 35 Christian families fled the area amid fears of further violence, the police spokesperson added.
A separate FIR was registered and five people were arrested for their alleged role in the ransacking and arson, the police said. An FIR filed at the Narang police station lists the names and addresses of several individuals alleged to have participated in the incident and describes about 30–35 people present at the scene.
Sub‑Inspector Raees Ahmed filed a complaint saying he recovered and sealed an 8 minute 17 second video allegedly posted by the accused and took screenshots into police possession. The complaint lists offences under Sections 160, 290, 295, 298, 298A, 504 of the PPC and under the Telegraph Act and PECA sections 11, 20 and 26.
Falbous Christopher, Punjab Assembly’s minority member and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Human Rights and Minority Affairs, took immediate notice of the incident. The police said the district police head Bilal Zafar Sheikh and a contingent reached the spot to contain the situation, and community leaders assured police that no further law and order incident would be allowed to develop.
